GENERAL INFO
Directions Dance Academy is locally owned and operated by Lynne Gabolinscy and Tony Urwin. Between them they have approximately 40 years’ teaching experience. All teachers at Directions are enthusiastic and encouraging and are qualified in all genres of dance.

Enrolments

Enrolments are accepted at the beginning of the year in Term 1, and then again in Term 3 following exams.

Exams

Students studying Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary or Musical Theatre have exams in August. Although not compulsory, students are encouraged to sit these exams and strive to reach their personal best. Exact exam dates are not known until the end of Term 2.

Dance show

Following exams, the school switches to ‘show mode’. Our annual dance show is held each December at Clarence St Theatre, and includes all students, from pre-school through to advanced.
 
There is a different theme for each show, with students allocated a character and music to fit. Our tutors work with the students to choreograph and fine-tune their dances so they are ready for the stage.

All practice takes place during class, so no extra time is required in the week leading up to the show. We have one dress rehearsal on the Saturday before the show date at the theatre.

All costumes are provided for students, with a small contribution to the show fund being included in Term 3 fees.
